M-Grade is a new mobile-based electronic grade system that was designed to replace the traditional paper-based methods of managing grades in the school system within the Gulf Region. With today’s rapid growth of information technology, the system capabilities will be endless. The new system provides many features that assist teachers record and manage students’ performance assessment. By using a PDA device, teachers are capable of entering and processing student grade data into their electronic grade sheet at anytime and from anywhere. A survey was designed and conducted to assess and measure the usefulness, usability and effectiveness of the software. The results of the survey have shown that the new tool is very useful, easy to learn and use, and effective.
Student safety on college campuses nationwide has become an increasingly serious concern. This week Rodger Desai, the CEO of Rave Wireless, announced during his panel at SXSW Interactive an initiative by Security On Campus, Campus Progress and Rave Wireless to make college and universities a safer place.
Purposefully launched during women’s month, by texting the word “Safety” to the short-code 30644 users are able to sign a petition that will be presented to University CIO’s around the country and help ensure that colleges and universities are doing all they can to keep students safe.
The service will also allow you to text in your email address in order to receive updates from Security on Campus and Campus Progress when action is needed to be taken around an issue of Campus Security. The campaign was then later marketing with interesting flyers shedding light on crime statistics (like the one above) and with banners and cocktail napkins at the Singlepoint, Rave Wireless, Mcommons and Distributive Networks party that night.
The campaign also helped shed light on Rave Wireless’ mobile phone solution for campus safety with its Rave Guardian application, an application that allows a student to put a timer on their phone that will broadcast the phones GPS location to the campus police if it is not reset. Rave’s Rave Guardian application propelled Montclair Sate University to win the 2006 Clery Award for innovation in Campus safety and is also a finalist in this years Wireless Innovation Contest’s Taking Care of The Community category at CTIA.
Do your part now to ensure our kids are safe at school. Text “Safety” to 30644 now!
There was an article in the Washington Post on Sunday about how Universities are having trouble getting announcements to the entire student body when it comes to safety warnings or even just deadlines for enrollment.
While the students embraced the digital age most of the stuff they use to communicate is outside the realm of what college administrators can use to contact students themselves.
The article goes into a plethora of examples of what various Universities are doing to try and deal with this issue but the constantly recurring theme always seems to involve mobile phones.
Rave Wireless,Sprint, Motorola and Product Red have joined forces on the Campus’ of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore to introduce the Red MotoRazr for students to purchase for ONLY 5 bucks! And the full of that 5 dollars will go directly to helping make AIDS history in Africa. The phones come, of course, with the suite of services that only Rave Wireless can bring to a college campus.
WOW. 3GSM… could probably be a bit overwhelming. Being the little planner I am, I knew who would be here, made appointments, and marked each meeting location on my map beforehand. And while I knew ahead of time that around 60,000 people would be here… um, actually seeing 60,000 suits with pink lanyards running around all saying “Mobile” in a different languages puts that number in context. Yeah, maybe even after heavy planning, it is still overwhelming.
There is SO much to see and do. SO many companies to talk to. SO many people to hand business cards out to.
The site of 3GSM is also worth noting… the main concourse area is placed in front of Palaca d’Espanya; with cascading water falls, jumbo-tron screens, and bimps. Its a nice mix of modern meets historic.
Finally… Ladies, where are you? I braced myself for a disproportionate ratio…. but… this is certainly far beyond what i expected. I would say there is a 3:97 women to men ratio. GIRLS, maybe we could represent a bit better next year!
