The New York State Democratic Committee announced today that they are launching a NY Democrat Mobile Action Network.
Put together by Jed Alpert’s and Rights-Group mobilization platform, the goal of the network is to put the Democratic Party in touch with voters throughout the State using text messaging. This will be the first time that a state democratic party organization harnesses the power of the mobile medium. The hope is that that the party can use the medium to help tap the momentum generated by Hillary Clinton and Eliot Spitzer to win Democratic races all across the State.
Joining is simple. SImply text “NYDEMS” into your cellphone’s text message screen and send it to the number 56658 to join the team.
By joining the Mobile Action Network you will:
* Get Plugged In! – The Network will let you know about the hot races in your area and how you can make a difference!
* Get to Meet the Candidates! – The Network will keep you posted about political events, speeches and rallies in your neighborhood!
* Get Heard! – The Network will ask what YOU think is important by polling your views on important political issues in NY State and beyond.
* Get Out the Vote! – The Network will keep you informed about volunteer activities in your neighborhood.
* Get Others Involved! – We will challenge each member of the Mobile Action Network to get 5 friends to text NYDEMS to 56658
Finally, it appears that campaigns are beginning to look beyond the “SMS alerts from the campaign trail” email model when it comes to mobile. When it comes to harnessing mobile technology for campaigns or political causes, call to actions are key.
